SimplexHealth pH & Total Alkalinity Test (50 strips)
$ 34.98
Description These water test strips are perfect to check the pH & alkalinity of drinking, tap and bottled water. Testing the pH and alkalinity of water is important: Tap water should have a pH of 6.5 to 9.5. Pure water should have a pH of approx 7. A very high or low pH can be an indicator of problems with water quality. This is especially the case for private water supplies. If the pH is high, then the desinfectant can not work properly. If a pH is low, then water can be corrosive for metal parts, ie. lead from lead pipes can leach into water or metal parts can be damaged causing pinhole leaks and/or staingin on fixtures and fittings. Alkalinity stabilises the pH, preventing it from sudden changes. It is a measure of the capacity of the water to resist a change in pH. Recommended alkalinity in drinking water is 20-200ppm as CaCO₃. High alkalinity can cause scaling and mineral build-up. A single test strip has been designed with two separate test pads: one for pH and the other for total alkalinity.
